Cambridge Academy of Organ Studies Summer Course 2012

Tutors: Dr David Ponsford,  James Parsons.

Visiting lecturer: Pierre Dubois (Organist at Souvigny and Professor at the Sorbonne).

The summer course this year takes place from July  30 (from before dinner) to August 3 (after lunch). Residential accommodation will again be at Sidney Sussex College in the heart of the city within easy walking distance of all the organs we will be using.

Special study topics this year take account of anniversaries of John Bull and Sweelinck (both born 1562) and John Stanley (born 1712) - there will be afternoon sessions dedicated to studying the English Virginalists within a continental context and on the English 18th century. Bach will also feature this year, as there will be two free lunchtime recitals to attend as part of Anne Page's complete Bach series. While the preparation for these precludes Anne being a tutor this year she will be taking part in one of the evening sessions and looks forward to meeting you all. We welcome James Parsons as a tutor, an experienced and inspirational teacher.

Individual lessons are offered for coaching on your own repertoire choices.

The cost of the course this year is £510 for residential accommodation (single ensuite rooms) and £255 non-residential.

We are offering places for 10 active participants.

Observers are welcome at afternoon and evening events.
