The Summer Course ran from 31st July to 4th August 2006 and was greatly enjoyed
There were ten residential and two non-residential students
The Cost was £450 residential and £250 non-residential
The Course Tutors were Dr David Ponsford, Anne Page.
The detailed programme is below.
The main focus of study was the
Orgelbüchlein, and the detailed construction and practical application of the
techniques were studied at the keyboard
Students were given the task of writing their own chorale prelude on a well
known hymn.
Programme
Monday July 31
1600-1800 Arrive at Sidney Sussex College and check in at the Porters Lodge.
Sidney Sussex is near the corner of Green Street and Sidney Street and
opposite Sainsbury's.
18.30 Dinner in hall - cafeteria style: collect food from servery, seating
at long tables (unreserved).
19.30 Attend Bach recital by AP at Trinity College, part of the Cambridge
Summer Music Festival. Tickets included in course fee. Arrive in good time
but will try to have seats reserved for the group.
Tuesday August 1
0900 - 1300 Pembroke College for larger class, from which students will go
in groups of 2 or 3 to Emmanuel College for 30 minutes of individual
tuition. All students will receive one 30 minute session with DP and
similarly with AP during the week (free choice of repertoire).
13.00-16.00 Own arrangements for lunch and opportunity for practice.

16.00-18.00 Trinity College - performance class on Bach.
18.30 Dinner in Hall.
20.00 Evening session (venue tbc).
Wednesday August 2
0900 - 1300 Pembroke College for larger class, from which students will go
in groups of 2 or 3 to Emmanuel College for 30 minutes of individual
tuition.
13.00-16.00 Own arrangements for lunch and opportunity for practice.
16.00-18.00 Trinity College - performance class on Bach.
18.30 Dinner in Hall.
20.00 Evening session (venue tbc).

Friday August 4
0900-1030 Final individual sessions and class work.
11.00-12.30 Participants' concert at Emmanuel College.
13.00 Lunch in Hall, after which course formally ends.
Notes:
1. No bar facilities available at Sidney Sussex, but many bars and pubs in
the immediate area.
2. Luggage storage will be arranged in college as rooms need to be vacated
before the 9am session on Friday.
3. Parking by special arrangement on the college playing fields at 162A
Huntingdon Road (on the left as you come into Cambridge along the Huntingdon
Road). Go through the first set of gates but not the second set - park
somewhere suitable between the two sets of gates. Buses are quite frequent
along that road but I don't know their route. Or taxis - tel. 01223 715715,
