The course as detailed below was a great success with more than fifty attendees overall. Below are some pictures of the event.
PROFESSOR PETER WILLIAMS PRESENTS JS BACH’S KEYBOARD ART The Cambridge Academy of Organ Studies presented three master classes – an opportunity for harpsichordists and organists to enlarge their knowledge of Bach’s keyboard music in the company of one of the world’s foremost authorities. PETER WILLIAMS is an internationally renowned Bach scholar and performer. He was Professor of Performance Practice and the first Director of the Russell Collection of Harpsichords at the University of Edinburgh, Arts and Sciences Distinguished Professor at Duke University NC, and until recently John Bird Professor at the University of Wales, Cardiff. He is the author of many books on the organ and its music including ‘The Organ Music of J S Bach’. He is also honorary Patron of CAOS. THE VENUES AND THEIR INSTRUMENTS Two harpsichord classes were be held in the Colyton Hall of Gonville and Caius College on the Mackinnon and Waitzman two-manual instrument after Pierre Danzelague 1711. The organ class was held in the chapel of Trinity College on the organ of Metzler of Zurich (1975). PROGRAMME SESSION 1 FRIDAY 12 MAY in the Colyton Hall, Gonville and Caius College Registration from 2.00pm. 2.30-5.30pm : Introduction to the three sessions and harpsichord master class.
SESSION 2 SATURDAY 13 MAY in the chapel of Trinity College. 9.30-12.30 : organ master classes

SESSION 3 SATURDAY 13 MAY in the Colyton Hall. Gonville and Caius College 2.00-4.30 : Harpsichord master class followed by tea. 5.00 : Closing panel discussion with Professor Williams, Dr David Ponsford, Dr Geoffrey Webber, chaired by Dr Paul Binski.
